The game idea of Fruit Ninja is simple, very very simple. Just cut the fruit and earn points. But why is it so successful? We think that it is due to a combination of captivating visuals, seemlessly smooth mechanic and simplicity. However, furthermore, we also believe that the thematic fruit slicing endeavour contributes to its success more than it gets credit for.



In a way, Gunny Grater, though visually inferior, has similar appeal to Fruit Ninja in terms of slicing and dicing fruits! This time, you get to shoot them in half using a cannon and arrows (yea, that sounds weird, but it is what it is).



There’s a lot of physics and some strategies involved if you want to win a level. You may also need to remove barriers using explosive arrows in order to access the covered fruits.



This web demo version contains only 2 levels. If you like the game, download the full version which has 60 levels with 5 different fruits to shoot!



Overall, if you are looking for a satisfying fruit hunter game with retro look, Gunny Grater might be one to play and relax!

Stacked Up is basically a timing-based game where you need to click/tap on the screen when the blocks line up with each other. If they are not perfectly line up, you will lose those blocks which are not lined up. If you lose the last block, the game is over.



There is one problem in Stacked Up game. The game can get old after a while especially during the early levels of the Arcade mode. The game can feel very slow at this point. Seasoned players will probably skip the arcade mode after a while and go straight to the hardcore mode.



Overall, Stacked Up is retro nostalgic game that can use more a little more varieties to keep it more interesting to attract and retain players.

PLAYPLAYFUN’S IMPRESSION ON GUGGLES:

In a glance, Guggles looks somewhat similar to Yoshi’s Island with the colorful elliptical structure. There is also some resemblance to Super Mario game from the 16-bit era.



The game is simple, move forward or jump and stomp on the enemy and make sure don’t touch the enemy with any other part of your body except your feet.



Here are a list of what I would like to see more from this game:

• Smoother and more polished animation especially when you defeat the enemy. It would be more exciting and satisfying to see the enemy squashed!
• The character jumps unusually high, too high to my liking
• Sticky keys kept getting activated because the jump is using SHIFT key

Overall, Guggles probably would not attract mature gamers. However, with the simple control and gameplay, it is more geared towards attracting younger gamers.

PLAYPLAYFUN’S IMPRESSION ON WORLD OF DYLAN 2 MIDDLE EAST:

Dylan 2 Middle East is a sequel to the Dylan game, which is a climbing platformer game.



The objective is simple, you need to climb your way up on each level. Beware though, there are enemies who will want to stop you on your track. Shoot the enemies and collect the fruits that they drop to earn points. Reach the top and you move on to the next level.



Dylan 2 Middle East reminds me of the old console games from SNES and Sega Genesis, which is a good thing for me, being a fan of the golden era of gaming!



However, the game can use a couple of improvement. For example, there is no sound effect when you shoot and kill an enemy. It just turn into fruits. It can also have more polished animation for that transition.



Another point that I would like to mention is that your progress is not saved (at least not in the browser version). Once you use up all the lives, you will need to start over from the earliest level. It would be nice if there is a stage select after beating a country stage.



Overall, Dylan 2 Middle East is quite entertaining. Those who yearns for retro platformer game, you might want to check it out. Having said that, however, the game can use some work to further polish the User Experience.

PLAYPLAYFUN’S IMPRESSION ON LEGEND OF THE PHOENIX:

The story begins with the main character as the great hero meeting the King and was vested the title of Legend of the Phoenix.



After playing the game for an hour, Legend of the Phoenix reminds me to classic JRPG titles such as Dragon Quest,Final Fantasy 1 and most Kemco RPG games. The music is catchy and enganging though the sound effects for choosing a menu could have used a better sounds rather than a cash machine’s “ding” sound.



The game could have been better if the battle system introduce an automatic battle that remember the last battle command the player’s used. The game could also use more varied animations especially when attacking with skills.



Overall, Legend of the Phoenix will attract classic RPG fans as it stays true to its root. The story is quite interesting and there quite a few humourous conversation among the characters as well.
